If you have been following me on Twitter or reading this blog, you know that I love Wordpress. In fact, this blog is a self-hosted Wordpress blog. My hosting service of choice is Hostgator. Anyway, I just found a great resource for those of you who also love Wordpress. It is a list of about 70 RSS feeds for Wordpress bloggers, Wordpress General News, Plugins, a Wordpress site showcase, Wordpress premium themes developers, popular Wordpress blogs, mostly FREE themes, and tips and tutorials.

Be sure to check it out, and subscribe to the ones that appeal to you. Are any of these already in your feedreader? Which ones will you be adding? Are you one of the ones on the list?

One of My Favorites

Instead of listing the top ten droppers for this past month, I am going to do something totally different, and write about some of the blogs that I have found that I really like and learn a lot from. The first one, that I visit just about every day, and am always impressed with, is Chic & Sassy Designs.

They specialize in custom made templates for Blogger, and the designs and layout are awesome. I would love to learn how to make a blogger template from scratch. I can currently only use pre-made templates that I find online, and customize them to meet my needs or those of my clients.

If you are in need of a new template for you blog, and you have a blogger blog, be sure to check out Chic & Sassy Designs, and let her know what you are looking for in a design. She is also an Entrecard member, so also visit daily and drop your card. There are also some pre-made templates that are for sale, as well as some free templates for you to use. When you stop by, let her know that Bill from Prescott Websites sent you. Thanks.

USA Foreclosure Property Online Site for Sale

One of my sites, USAFORECLOSUREPROPERTYONLINE.COM is currently for sale on Ebay. You may do whatever you want with the site, but foreclosures are a very popular topic at this time. This site, if monetized and advertised properly, will bring a lot of traffic and lots of cash.

The site is currently displaying ads from my Google adsense account, as well as from commission junction and pepperjam network. The affiliate ids will need to be updated to your ids. If you need help doing any of the setup, or further customization of the site, I can provide you with that. My normal hourly rate for that is $60, but I will include one hour FREE to the winner of this auction.

The domain name is registered with Nicwizdomains through August of 2009. It is free to sign up with nicwizdomains, and the domain name and files will be transferred to the winner upon receipt of payment. The site is currently hosted by me, and you can continue to have me host for only $10 per month.

This website was built using Wordpress, and is set to have a static home page. Whatever you add here will be what your visitors see when they first browse to the site. You can easily change this to be like a regular blog page by changing the settings in the reading section. If you have any questions, please contact me prior to the end of the auction.

FAQ:

Why are you selling this site? The simple answer is that I own about 50 domain names, and I wanted to add value to this domain name by creating a site for it. I chose Wordpress as the content management system because it is easy to create pages, edit things and add affiliate code and banners.

Included with the auction is a guide to setting up, editing and adding information to the site, in the form of pages, links, plugins, …etc. This guide is also available separately for $9.95 here.

What do I get when I win this auction? You get the domain name usaforeclosurepropertyonline.com, all the site files (or access to the admin panel if hosting with me), the guide mentioned above, instructions on how to edit the affiliate ids, and a FREE subscription to my newsletter, so you can keep up to date on new websites for sale, and news about Prescott Websites.

What about support after I purchase the website? I will provide you with support for as long as needed. All you have to do is contact me by phone or email. This information will be provided to the winner of the auction.

Good luck, and happy bidding.

Domain Name Scramble Contest

We haven’t had a winner of the domain name contest yet, so I am offering readers of my blog the chance to win their very own domain name, just for unscrambling the domain name. All you have to do is unscramble this domain name: SMYPCEALCEMSU.com. If you have a guess, send it to me. The first one to get it right will win. This domain is registered with Godaddy, through February of next year. Good luck!

Using Stumbleupon to Increase Blog Traffic

I am currently taking the FREE course from Caroline Middlebrook, about how to increase traffic to your blog using Stumbleupon. For those of you who have never heard of Stumbleupon, it is a great way to discover new sites, and can be set to browse just the channels that you like. For me, I chose animals, photography, web design, alternative rock, humor, and liberal politics (among others). Now, when I click on the Stumbleupon button in the Firefox toolbar, it gives me sites that I know I will probably like. And it learns as you go. The more sites you thumb up, the better it is at matching your likes to pages you are shown. If you would like to see some sites that I like, you can visit my profile.

The course that Caroline offers shows you how to get your own content included in the pages that Stumbleupon shows other people. It is, like I said, free, and you can Click here to view more details. The full course is also offered for sale, and to purchase it directly, just click on the graphic below.

Buy Now

You will notice that I also added a Stumbleupon button directly to the bottom of my posts, to help my viewers stumble my content easily. If you like this post, click on the stumbleupon button and fill in the description and tags in the window that appears. This will add content from my blog to Stumbleupon. I would be more than happy to also stumble your content once you have added the button to your site. And I would be willing to help you add the buttons if needed. Just let me know in the comments.

I have just started using the course about how to use Stumbleupon, but I will keep you posted as to how much success I have with it. Have you used Stumbleupon, and if so, has it increased traffic to your site? What other services do you use to drive traffic to your website or blog?

Top Performers at Pepperjam

PJN July Promo

Today I would like to talk to you about some of the top performers on the Pepperjam Network. For those of you that are not familiar with Pepperjam, they are a full service internet marketing agency, and they have an awesome affiliate marketing program through their Pepperjam Network.

I just signed up not too long ago, and so can you. The best part is that they have extended their $10 sign on bonus through the end of this month, so there is still time for you to join. If you have a website that you would like to monetize with relevant advertising, be sure to check out all the advertisers available through Pepperjam.

Some of the best performing advertisers include Ebay, BabyPhat, All Online Schools, Sesame Street, Lifelock, Lexington Law, and FRS Health Energy.

Most people are familiar with Ebay, and an Ebay ad will do well on most any website. Babyphat is a line of female hip-hop clothing by Kimora Lee Simmons, and would perform well on a site that is clothing related, or caters to a more affluent clientele.

If you have a site that offers information on colleges, or taking classes online, you may consider placing an advertising banner for All Online Schools.

Have a fun, kid-related site? Consider a partnership with Sesame Street. And if you run a security business, or are concerned about identity theft or a related subject, an association with Lifelock will drive relevant traffic to your site.

Most people are concerned about their health or that of friends and family members, and FRS Health Energy is a good source of information on how to keep yourself healthy.

Have a site that offers visitors information and help with legal matters? A top Pepperjam performer that may work for you is Lexington Law.

So, check out the Pepperjam Network and their great selection of advertisers, and sign up today to qualify for the $10 sign-on bonus. Hurry, this offer is only good for a few more days!

Too Much Time on My Hands… NOT!

I was just listening to “Too much time on my hands” by the band Foreigner. Foreigner is one of my all-time favorite bands. In the song, they are talking, obviously, about having too much time. I sometimes wish I had that problem.

As it is, I have about 40 domain names that I own through GoDaddy.com - World’s No.1 Domain Name Registrar , a couple at Nicwiz, and a few at Enom. I want to develop all of them into great websites, and will probably sell most. The only problem is, that takes time, and I don’t seem to have that luxury lately.

I have met with three possible new clients already this week, and need to get one site completed to coincide with the retail location’s grand opening. Plus, there are the normal everyday things that need to be done outside of work, like spending time with family.

So, here is my question to my fellow bloggers and other web designers: How do you manage your time, and do you find that it is hard to balance work with your personal life? What software or system do you use to keep track of everything that needs to be done? Let me know in the comments.

Blogging, Entrecard and Google Analytics

I use Google analytics to keep track of my sites and blogs. Since I have started using Entrecard, the number of visitors to my blog has exploded. This is mostly due to the fact that I have been dropping my card regularly since the start, but also because the blog has been around for a while (the prescottwebsitedesign.com domain is new, but the blog has been at prescottazwebsites.com for a while).

Anyway, it really helps me as a web developer to see where visitors come from, what OS/browser combination they are using, how long they were on the site, and what pages they visited. That helps me decide which screen resolution is popular with people, so I can design sites for others that will fit in visitors’ browser windows.

So, traffic is great, but what does that mean? How can I use this information to provide more quality information for my visitors and encourage them to come back? Entrecard users can visit blogs based on the subject matter of the blog, or just by visiting sites that they like, depending on who drops cards on their blog. I have read other blog posts about the traffic not being targeted, but I disagree that it is all random. If someone who is interested in web design comes to this blog, they will probably read my posts, either before or after dropping their card.

And, of course, with the Sezwho installed, they will be inclined to comment too. Isn’t that what you are looking for? I think that anybody who visits this site is a good thing, and I hope they would take the time to read my posts and comment. If you have any doubts about how much traffic you will receive by using Entrecard, just check out the analytics screenshot of this blog: (click image for larger view)
