Domains

A domain name is the very first thing you need to secure in order to have an online presence. If you sell seashells by the seashore, you might want to try to find “seashellsbytheseashore.com”, for instance. To find a domain name that is available for purchase, you will need to do a search for your desired site’s domain name at a site such as Dotster.com

Hosting

Once you have your domain name, you will need a place for your site to “live” on the internet. This is provided by a hosting company. There are many hosting companies out there, but two I would recommend are Bluehost and Hostgator. At Bluehost, you can get a Free Domain With $6.95 Hosting Package. Bluehost has great customer service and an easy to use control panel.

I host all of my sites with Hostgator. They offer great support and hosting with lots of packages to choose from, and an easy to use control panel, Cpanel.

With any of these services, you can pay monthly or yearly, whichever is easier for you. And, as always, if you have any questions about domain names and/or hosting, let
me know
